Greetings! From an Existent JW!
by Ethos ini'd like extend a greeting to all members of jwn.
i've been a lurking by-stander of this forum for approximately 6 months.
i think this forum's best moments can be attributed to the involvement of actual jw's in doctrinaire discussions and to heated (though not always dialectic) debates.

Ethos, welcome!
By the way, did you know a user named Recovery? He said that he was getting a bunch of current JWs together to begin posting on this site. That was just a few weeks ago, and now here you are! Just wanted to know if you were one of the ones that he sent this way.

One more month til the END OF THE WORLD!
by Christ Alone ini heard about this almost constantly in the past, but it seems that talk about this has died down a bit.
maybe i just haven't been around the "right" people.
since dec 21 is only a month and a half away, does anyone know of some groups that are pushing for this date?

Mrs. Jones, I'm not sure of your sons thought process with his autism. But this is a good video for getting rid of any fear he might have about it...

Well there are no astroids on a path for earth...so that's out. I've heard that humans are going to suddenly evolve in some sort of spiritual sense on this day too...hmmmm....
I guess it's a good thing that more people aren't talking about it. When Harold Campings predictions didn't come true, it was pretty humiliating for everyone involved. So maybe these people have learned a little.

I remember talking to one fellow that said that 2012 was going to be a year full of strange signs. Solar flares would cause cell phone blackouts. Weather would go crazy. There would be strange signs in the sky. Besides Sandy...this has been a pretty quiet year, yes?

Since Dec 21 is only a month and a half away, does anyone know of some groups that are pushing for this date? Obviously the WT isn't. But I haven't heard much about it. Obviously it has been debunked as a date for the end of the world. But I just wanted to know if any of all you all have heard anyone talking much about 12/21/12. Here's a History Channel special on Nostradamus and the connection to 2012. Some pretty interesting....characters....in this doc.

What attracted you to the Watchtower?

I mean that in the way that they did not choose this life for themselves. They did not celebrate Christmas and give that up. They did not believe a certain way and change it. They did not fix their lives in terms of morality. They were trained this way from birth. Even the ones who's parents converted did not necessarily choose this for themselves. They may have made the choice AS A CHILD, but this is far different from choosing it as an adult. This of course does not take into account those that were raised in it, left, and came back. But it seems clear from the feelings of converts that they see born ins as being very judgemental towards them. It has seemed to me that born ins are usually the ones that also have an issue with "faders".
Many converts that became exJWs are turned off by the comment, "I NEVER would have chosen this for myself. It was forced onto me." This implies that you would have been too intelligent than to fall for a cult.
Of course, I am speaking as a born in. So I may be off base here. But that was the impression I was getting from the posts of other converts that left.

I just meant that in my experience the born ins that leave seem to be (in general) much more bitter towards the organization. I am not saying that there is no reason to be. There is. But sometimes it comes off in a way that holds converts back from an open conversation. Since a born in never REALLY had to make the choice for themselves in many ways, they feel that those that DID make the choice, especially as adults, are less intelligent, ignorant, etc... I'm not saying that its true of all born ins. Just most of the born ins in my realm of experience.

I wrote a Proverb today, what do you think Iam trying to say?
by Nambo inhere in the uk we are going through the annual rememberence rituals and everybody wears a red poppy.. i prefer to wear the white poppy of the peace pledge union which elicits both respect and contempt.
its interesting to see the way members of parliaments eyes alight on my somewhat rebelious symbol when they say good morning to me.. .
anyhow, today i composed a proverb, maybe its crap?, iam a mechanic by trade, not a poet.. so, what do you think iam trying to say?

My favorite "proverb" is from Einstein. Ok, not a proverb, but still enlightening. "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." ~ Albert Einstein
